A modular house that blends in with nature: one of Lithuania's most talented architects was hired for the exceptional project

The architectural studio NEBRAU, famous for its exceptional projects, does not specialize in designing modular homes, but this time it accepted such a challenge and created an exceptional mobile home project "Raganosis".

This is a holiday home that is best suited for spending a weekend for two by a lagoon, sea, lake, or, as has become popular recently, surrounded by a forest.

Designing was "a good brain massage"

Architect Laurynas Avyžius, founder of the NEBRAU studio, remembers the beginning of the project, when he contacted representatives of the modular home builder company Rest Modules and, having found a common vision, began designing.

"After discussing our needs, we started looking for a suitable module for short-term living. We were looking for a type and structure that would allow us to vary our choices and needs for the house. A clear 3×3 square emerged, which could have its own function: bedroom, living room, SPA, etc. This is how the whole structure was born."

The shapes and layout of modular houses are usually very similar everywhere, so finding something unique was a good brain massage. I wanted to make one that would fit and fit everywhere: on a lake, in a forest, in a meadow. At the same time, it would not darken the natural context and would be "invisible," says architect L. Avyžius.

This leisure cabin can be easily transported to practically any location of your choice.

Its length is 9.6 m, width is 3.6 m, height is 4.8 m. This house has all the advantages of a standard house: heating and recuperation systems, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with all the equipment and appliances. It has already been implemented and is waiting for its new owners.

According to the house's architect, this house looks very interesting in its natural setting: "The mirrored facade decoration is a bit deceptive, it is difficult to perceive the existing volume with internal functions. However, there is enough of everything inside, and on the outside it is deceptively immersed in the existing environment," says L. Avyžius.

Not only the idea stands out, but also the materials used

Kęstutis Martišius, the head of the modular home construction company Rest Modules, which has already implemented over ten different projects, says that the first idea that came to mind was to create something impressive and original.

"We wanted a project that would be unique in the world in its appearance. We aimed to create a project that would be beautiful and at the same time blend into nature. We also wanted to demonstrate that a small house can have all the advantages and be a great solution for a weekend getaway in nature. Therefore, we invited the well-known NEBRAU team of architects to help us realize this idea."

"This was a really challenging project, especially with the mirrored facade. Therefore, we are extremely happy that this technically complex project was successfully completed and is gaining more and more attention from customers precisely because of its uniqueness," says K. Martišius, CEO of Rest Modules.

For the exterior facade of the modular house "Raganosis", mirror-like ALUCOBOND® panels from the world-renowned manufacturer 3A Composites GmbH and burnt wood siding from UAB "Medžio bitės" were selected.

The materiality of the facade was chosen to achieve the NEBRAU architects' intended intention - the house should merge with nature and reflect it.

Scandinavian interior bleached paneling was chosen for the interior. This choice was determined by the desire to give the interior of the house a natural feeling of wood. Studies conducted by scientists in various countries with wood finishes have shown that the feel of wood gives a sense of calm and relaxation. It is not for nothing that in various European countries, structures and interior finishes are chosen from wood for the construction of schools, kindergartens and other facilities.

"Our most popular project in Lithuania is the modular house "Kankorėžis". We have several manufactured houses of this type in our offer. Currently, a 50 m2 modular house by the lake is being produced, as well as a homestead complex of 4 modular houses of different sizes.

"Taking into account the needs of the Lithuanian market, larger A++ energy class modular houses with an area of 50 m2 and 80 m2 are currently being designed and will be offered in the future," added K. Martišius.
